James Patterson Talks About Guilty Wives

Woman of God

Thank you! In this early, compelling part of the book, Brigid confronts primitive living quarters, tries to help orphaned and maimed children, and practices "meatball surgery" in unsterile, chaotic circumstances. The deft descriptions of the almost unbelievable conditions under which the medics work are cringe-inducing. More so is the ugly violence inflicted on combatants, refugees, and courageous charity workers. Brigid falls in love with a fellow doctor.

While the subject matter is completely different, Patterson fans might be pleased to know that this book follows the same writing style short chapter and sentence format of previous books. Woman of God begins 20 years in the future with the world awaiting news of a new pope. Is it possible that the new pope would be a woman?! A couple of trials, I can relate to that. But this woman went through way more than I can wrap my head around. And faith? What faith?

The central character of this book is Brigid Fitzgerald, a physician working with the fictional organization Kind Hands similar to Doctors without Borders. Brigid is in south Sudan in very desperate and dangerous conditions.

Where have I been? Let us begin, shall we? Man, honestly that is the best I can summarize this book. Written in the first person, from the eyes and thoughts of Bridget, you explore the life of the very humble, fragile, yet strong woman as she works as a relief doctor in war torn South Sudan, then to the streets of Italy where she deals with loss and pain. You follow her as she deals with war, death, sorrow and pain, all while asking yourself what you would do in her situation? Would you be able to survive the pain? The heartbreak?

Added by 21 of our members. A new Pope will be chosen in Rome. But she's made some powerful enemies who will stop at nothing-not even murder. The world is watching as massive crowds gather in Rome, waiting for news of a new pope, one who promises to be unlike any other in history. It's a turning point that may change the Church forever. Some followers are ecstatic that the movement reinvigorating the Church is about to reach the Vatican, but the leading candidate has made a legion of powerful enemies who aren't afraid to kill for their cause. From a difficult childhood with drug addled parents, to a career as a doctor on the front lines in Sudan, to a series of trials that test her faith at every turn, Brigid Fitzgerald's convictions and callings have made her the target of all those who fear that the Church has lost its way-dangerous adversaries who abhor challenges to tradition.
