There are all manner of books that are bought rather than read. Running an eye over the list, I can see a bit of consumer resistance to quite a few of them: Mark Twain, well, his style takes a bit of stamina; Peter Pan — easier passed on via the Disney film than the book; Little Women, full of references to The Pickwick Papers, which children find obscure.
