Pendergast Books in Order: How to read Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child series? - How To Read Me

War and Peace is one of the greatest monuments in world literature. Set against the dramatic backdrop of the Napoleonic Wars, it examines the relationship between the individual and the relentless march of history. Here are the universal themes of love and hate, ambition and despair, youth and age, expressed with a swirling vitality which makes the book as accessible today as it was when it was first published in It is more than a novel—it is life itself between pasteboard covers, life in all its richness, passion, horror, love, hate, complexity, and ambiguity. I cried when I read it, which was for me at least at 18 a rare occurrence. When I was finished I walked around in a daze for a week, trying to come back into my own life after the unforgettable experience of the life in that novel.

"The Books that Changed My Life"

I realize that many see this as the first of a series featuring Agent Pendergast. Are the other Pendergast books worth a read? I really enjoyed Relic , but probably more so for the concept and the story, the characters were not what made the book for me. Pendergast is one of my favorite characters in all of fiction. Outstanding series.

Pendergast is abruptly forced to accept an unthinkable condition of continued employment: the famously rogue agent must now work with a partner. When Grace Ozmian, the beautiful and reckless daughter of a wealthy tech billionaire, first goes missing, the NYPD assumes she has simply sped off on another wild adventure. Until the young woman's body is discovered in an abandoned warehouse in Queens, the head nowhere to be found. After a harrowing, otherworldly confrontation on the shores of Exmouth, Massachussetts, Special Agent A. Pendergast is missing, presumed dead. A seemingly straightforward private case turns out to be much more complicated-and sinister-than Special Agent A.

Unstoppable suspense and mystery. Riptide is a saga that sweeps the reader over the falls and makes him wish he was truly along for the ride. It is that and more. Riptide blends the adventure of Indiana Jones with the existential drama of Moby Dick There is a mythological, epic quality to Riptide that takes it beyond the realm of the supermarket thriller. The quest for Red Ned's treasure goes beyond material greed: it has the feel of the perils of Odysseus.
