Are there any good references? See the associated website at:. The second half of the book the part written by Bob is a quite complete treatment of numerical methods for solving ODEs, and has lots of exercises.

It seems that you're in Germany. We have a dedicated site for Germany. Probably I ought to explain why one more book on numerical methods can be useful. Without any doubt, there are many quite good and excellent books on the subject. But I know definitely that I did not realize this when I was a student. In this book, my first desire was to present those lectures that I wished I would have heard when I was a student. Besides, in spite of the profusion of textbooks, introductory courses, and monographs on numerical methods, some of them are too elementary, some are too difficult, some are far too overwhelmedwith applications, and most of them are too lengthy for those who want to see the whole picture in a short time.

Numerical analysis , a part of mathematics and computer science that analyzes, implements the algorithm for solving the problems of mathematical analysis. This article is very helpful for those who are interested in numerical analysis. Anyone can learn numerical methods step by step by reading these best books. Chapra who is known as best selling author. This book provides comprehensive coverage of numerical problem solving and focuses on problem-solving rather than theory, using MATLAB.

Background As a numerical analyst, I've frequently taught the 'Introductory Numerical Analysis' class. Such courses are found in many major universities; the audience typically consists of reluctant engineering majors and some majors of mathematics. The structure of the course is very similar in many of the institutions whose syllabi I've looked at: one begins with finite-precision arithmetic, then fixed-point methods for root-finding usually 1-D problems ,interpolation by polynomials, quadrature, numerical differentiation, some standard ODE methods, and perhaps some finite difference methods for PDE. Any rationale for this particular sequence of topics is obscured in the course.
