Nonetheless, a novice programmer should be able to read along and pick up the language, although access to a more knowledgeable colleague will help. I've been using the first and second edition of this book as a reference since , and I recommended it to several people as a good first text on programming. It's well organized, clearly written, and has clearly explained examples. I am very pleased that it is now available as an eBook.
