IUCN Red data Book:Different CategoriesThe International Union for Conservation of Nature IUCN ; officially International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources is an international organization working in the field of nature conservation and sustainable use of natural resources. It is involved in data gathering and analysis, research, field projects, advocacy, and education. IUCN's mission is to "influence, encourage and assist societies throughout the world to conserve nature and to ensure that any use of natural resources is equitable and ecologically sustainable". Over the past decades, IUCN has widened its focus beyond conservation ecology and now incorporates issues related to sustainable development in its projects. IUCN does not itself aim to mobilize the public in support of nature conservation. It tries to influence the actions of governments, business and other stakeholders by providing information and advice, and through building partnerships. The organization is best known to the wider public for compiling and publishing the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species , which assesses the conservation status of species worldwide.

Extinct EX A taxon is Extinct when there is no reasonable doubt that the last individual has died. Extinct in Wild EW A taxon is Extinct in the Wild when it is known only to survive in cultivation, in captivity or as a naturalized population or populations well outside the past range. A taxon is Critically Endangered when the best available evidence indicates that it meets any of the criteria A to E for Critically Endangered see Section V , and it is therefore considered to be facing an extremely high risk of extinction in the wild. Geographic range in the form of either B1 extent of occurrence OR B2 area of occupancy :. Extent of occurrence estimated to be less than km 2 , and estimates indicating severely fragmented or known to exist at only a single location. Area of occupancy estimated to be less than 10 km 2 , and severely fragmented or known to exist at only a single location.
The Little Green Data Book provides approximately 50 indicators for more than countries based on World Development Indicators and its online database. Key indicators are organized under the headings of agriculture, forestry, biodiversity, energy, emission and pollution, and water and sanitation. Several of these indicators have the potential to measure progress on the SDGs. These indicators measure the use of resources and the way human activities affect both the natural and the built environment including: measures of natural resources forest, water, and cultivable land and degradation pollution, deforestation, loss of habitat, and loss of biodiversity. The edition measures sustainability by expanding the conventional way of measuring national saving to include natural resource deplate and degradation of the environment as well as investment in human capital. Although most countries are on a sustainable path, nearly 45 per cent of the countries analyzed in this book are depleting their "wealth" even as they show growth in annual income. The Little Green Data Book provides key environmental data for over economies, based on the World Development Indicators and its online database.
The architectural complexity of flower structures hereafter referred to as floral complexity may be linked to pollination by specialized pollinators that can increase the probability of successful seed set. As plant—pollinator systems become fragile, a loss of such specialized pollinators could presumably result in an increased likelihood of pollination failure. This is an issue likely to be particularly evident in plants that are currently rare.
